This is Alice of the Bala Lake Railway being readied for the day's work by an enthusiastic young minder.
Alice is a Hunslet built in 1902. She worked at Dinorwic until about 1960. She then suffered by neglect and being used as spare parts like so many others did. In 1987 restoration started and in 1994 she finally steamed.
She has been rebuilt in the manner of true quarry locos, cabless and with dumb wooden buffers.
And what a little beauty she is.
