Description

Photograph taken on 1 October 2015 at the Wenecja (Venice) Narrow Gauge Museum in Poland.
This Museum, located near Znin in Poland is a department of the Muzeum Ziemi Pałuckiej (the Żnin's Museum of Pałuki Land) and was established in 1972. It is situated at the foot of the ruins of the medieval castle built in the 14th century by the legendary Mikołaj Nałecz. Before visiting the Museum I had passed it while travelling on the historic Żnińska Kolej Powiatowa, a 600 mm narrow gauge railway from Żnin via Wenecja to Biskupin which is famous for a reconstruction of the Lusatian culture settlement and the Archaeological Museum.
The Railway Museum contains steam locomotives, passenger carriages and freight wagons, trolleys, railwaymen's tools, signalling equipment, the contents of an old waiting room and old maps.
The locomotive on the right is a Henschel 600 mm 0-8-0T, built in 1915 and numbered 4.
