Photographed on 8 May 2014 in the Magyar Vasúttörténeti Park ("Hungarian Railway History Park"). Built by Ganz in 1934 with a 270 hp high speed diesel engine and hydraulic mechanical transmission, Works no. 80143. This railcar could accomplish the journey from Budapest to Vienna in just over 3 hours. It was used by the highest military commander to escape from Hungary when the Russians arrived during WW2. It was handed over to the US Army, and they returned it to Hungary in 1948. It was refurbished and is now a member of the "Nostagia" stock.
The success of the Árpád railcar in Hungary brought many orders for Ganz. Similar railcars were delivered in many countries, mostly in North Africa and South America: Argentina, Peru, Chile and Uruguay.
