A lovely shot Steve, though I am of course a little biased. Well, 'appen a bit more than a little! "Bittern" looks really steam tight and a credit to the Shed Staff. What does the 'Mallard' type boiler lagging badge have to say please?

Tony, You will recall both Mallard and Sir Nigel Gresley had commerative plates on the boiler casing detailing epic speed exploits. Well Bittern holds the record for the fastest steam loco in the preservation era. She did 93 mph on 5th December 2013 hauling the Tyne Tees Streak special working. Bittern was awaiting transportation to LNWR Crewe on Wednesday 4th November and was still in the loco yard at Sheffield Park. The Giants weekend was her last steam weekend, the boiler ticket having now expired. Steve Lee

Thank you Steve, I didn't realise that such speeds had been allowed in recent years. Where did this happen? I'd like to bet that Bittern was nearly in mid-gear, but what an achievement.
