As part of the switch over to electric units on the Hastings line in May 1986 a new livery was introduced, it was nicknamed JAFFA CAKE because of its brown and orange strip with grey bottom .4 CEP no 1523 is departing Robertsbridge for Hastins in May 1986 wearing this livery.
Co-ed note -
The British Rail Class 411 (or 4 Cep) electrical multiple units were built at Eastleigh works from 1956-63 for the newly electrified main lines in Kent. These units were based on the earlier Southern Railway 4Cor design, built in 1937. They were replaced by Juniper units.
