The Causey Arch near Durham is the oldest railway bridge in the world. Constructed in 1725 by Ralph Wood it has a span of 31m which, for about 30 years, was the longest single span bridge around.
It only ever saw horse drawn coal wagons. Wife and friend top right gives some idea how high it is.
