I took this picture of 40 088 at Crewe on 5Th June 2010. as you can see it is now on a trailer for display. See picture 8830 also

Looking a little better than in the 2 previous photos but still short of a few bits!! Interesting that she is carrying a "Class 40 Preservation Society" headboard but there is no mention of her on the website that I can find. Will they use her for demo, cabbing, purposes or perhaps to replace a cab on one of their other locos not in as good condition?

I particularly like the headboard similar to the attractive nameplates the Class 40s carried. A batch were named after Cunard, Elder Dempster and Canadian Pacific liners as they would possibly find themselves on boat trains to Liverpool Riverside. The plates featured the ship's name, owning company and painted houseflag. Incidentally, all the Riverside boat trains I ever saw were Britannia Pacifics........
